Il Design di oggetti, siano essi di uso quotidiano o meno, è ricerca di forme appropriate - possibilmente originali - al servizio delle funzioni che si intende con essi facilitare o rendere semplicemente più gradevoli. Accanto al Design Industriale, dedicato alla realizzazione in serie e quindi destinato a suggerire forme che non escano dai limiti imposti dalla economicità di produzione, sopravvive la visione più romantica del design, dedicato anche al pezzo unico purchè portatore di genuini valori formali, materici e funzionali. La validità di un oggetto - a prescindere dalle sue dimensioni - non si deve valutare esclusivamente in virtù della facilità di utilizzo, ma soprattutto in rapporto al piacere che provoca nella persona che lo usa, piacere legato essenzialmente alla sua percezione sensoriale statica e dinamica.

The design of an object, whether to be used on a daily basis or less frequently, has to do with looking for the right shape or form - possibly an entirely original one - which will serve the function of that object or simply make it more attractive. Apart from industrial design, dedicated to the mass production of forms which do not go beyond the limits imposed by the economics of production, there is a more romantic view of design focusing on the single object which possesses genuine values in terms of form, material and function. The validity of an object, apart from its dimensions, should not be valued exclusively in relation to ease of use, but above all in the way it can give pleasure to the person who uses it through all the senses.
